I hate holidays!

They can be really annoying!

I never regretted not to celebrate them, but the things you can't do because of them if you're a witness.

For example: I love candles or chains of lights. But of course they're only fun in fall or winter when it's really dark outside in the evenings. They look lovely in the window. But of course it's also the time of christmas and so most people associate those lights with christmas decoration. So as a witness you might not want to have those or people might think you celebrate it too!

Today I encountered another holiday related taboo. On Facebook my Farmville avatar was wearing one of those new costumes. Just because i thought that super-women costume was funny. I didn't realize how it could offend my brothers in the USA. But today I got a message from someone telling me she removed me as neighbor, because she was offended by me celebrating Halloween this way.

Of course I immediately changed my avatar as I really don't want to offend anyone. I apologized to her explaining that Halloween still isn't that big deal here in Germany, so i just haven't thought of it.

I was a bit embarrassed my that message because i don't want anyone to think I celebrate Halloween or something. But I'm glad she wrote me and explained why she removed me as neighbor, so we could talk about it and clear that little misunderstanding.
