Highlights from the Assembly

So yesterday was our Special Assembly Day. Too bad it's always too short. But of course it was very upbuilding.. as always. And I wanted to share two highlights of the assembly with you.

One was the picture the brother from the bethel painted for us. He talked about Jehovah being our Shepard.

He said he talked to a shepard once and asked him what the worst disease for a sheep would be. And he expected the answer to be something like hoof and mouth disease. But the shepard said it would be the loss of the herd instinct and the smell of the herd. Because if a sheep looses that it is in terrible danger. It would stroll away and might die.

So if the shepard sees a sheep strolling away he will send his dog to get it back. Sometimes the dog even has to tweak the sheep a bit to get it moving back to the herd. It might hurt a bit but only for a short time and it's for the sheeps best.

Sometimes the shepard has to bring the sheep back himself. He would carry it, but not because it's lazy or hurt, but to help him to remember the smell of the herd and regain the herd instinct. Maybe he has to carry the sheep around for days before it gets better.

The other highlight was one of the interviews.

There was this boy, Julien and he was only 13 but he's already been through a lot in his life. His mother became an apostate when he was only one and a half. He could only see his father every second week, but his father used the short time they had to talk about Jehovah. He tried to get custody for his son but unfortunately the judge was on the mothers side.

But Julien really learned to love Jehovah and when he was with his dad they went to the meetings together. Of course his mother didn't like that and she also threatened her own son. And one day she brought him to a sect commissioner who told him how bad and dangerous Jehovah's Witnesses are. But Julien had a strong mind and knew it was all lies.

When he was 11 he went to the Judge all by himself and he talked to him for at least 2 hours and told him his story. It took a little while but finally his father got custody for him. Julien is now living with his father. He is now making good progress in the truth and is already an unbaptized publisher.

So these are my highlights from the last assembly.
