Finally!

Today i wanted to visit my little friend Anna.. But the nurse told me she was home again today. Just for the day, she has to return for the nights, like she did last weekend. But i called her mom and she told me that maybe tomorrow Anna will be released from hospital!!

Finally after more than 2 weeks she may go home!

Anna has been diagnosed diabetes two weeks ago. She's only 10! They say some kind of virus destroyed 80% of her pancreas. But she handles it very well! After only 2 days she looked like a pro while measuring her blood sugar of injecting her insulin! We'e all very proud of her.

But the range of her blood sugar values was alarming. It varied from over 300 to under 50 within hours sometimes! The day they had to hospitalize her her blood sugar was over 600!!

The biggest problem was to convince her that she has to eat sometimes even if she doesn't want to. One day when i visited her blood sugar was really low, about 40, and she felt sick. But she refused to eat. In the end we had to feed her like a baby.

I was really worried about Anna in the last weeks. I visited her almost every second day. (The hospital was on the way to the RehaZentrum where i have to attend to my physical therapy 3 times a week!)

I'm so glad she might come home. The hospital is not a fun place to be.

My diabetes was brought on by an infection with a high fever that damage my kidneys when I was 4 years old. Right now it is out of control but my doctor prescribed new medications. Hopefully that will do it. :o)
